If you are a Vietnamese living overseas (Viet Kieu), you may now enter Vietnam without a visa. Your foreign husband, wife or children will also be granted visa exemption if you provide your marriage certificate and birth certificates of your children.
However, you must first obtain your visa exemption document.
The application can be downloaded from http://mienthithucvk.mofa.gov.vn/, complete the form and send it to the agency.

To qualify, you must have a foreign passport (or foreign permanent resident documents) valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Vietnam.
In addition, you must have one of the following documents proving you are Vietnamese:
- a certificate of Vietnamese nationality;
- a copy of the decision to leave or return to Vietnamese nationality;
- a certificate of losing Vietnamese nationality;
- Vietnamese passport (even invalid);
- family registration;
- identity card;
- birth certificate;
- latest voter’s card;
- documents proving them to be overseas Vietnamese under Vietnamese laws (including documents granted by the former Southern regime like passports, identity cards, birth certificates) and international conventions that Vietnam participates in.
If you don't have one of the above documents, you can provide documents granted by overseas agencies proving that you have Vietnamese origin or Vietnamese nationality before.
